I'm so very sorry for the loss of your sister. When I think back to that time when we were younger, I seem to remember visiting the Cartwright house and possibly meeting or seeing you, Hollis.  I remember Alison, almost always smiling, but I also have an image of her swinging a softball bat and smashing the ball out of the park.  She was athletic as I recall, including being a fast runner...but maybe I'm only imagining these things. Others who knew her better might recall more clearly her gifts, but one that will always stick with me was her friendliness and of course, her beautiful smiles.  She also seemed to be very artistic and I enjoyed seeing her FB posts that almost always displayed something of beauty.  When I think about those times, I also remember some parties with great music and as I was listening to this Crosby Stills and Nash song, Helplessly Hoping, I felt Alison's spirit singing along.

Chuck contacted me about 4 years ago and we spoke of the early days at Harper and the New Trier days when he had me cracking up at some great stories. It's interesting what we remember and share with our acquaintances years later. I remember him as a true comrade who would have a nice thing to say in passing. His generosity in recent years was extended to musician friends who were touring the Bay Area and Chuck was kind to offer recommendations for venues that might accommodate a gig for the performers. I was also FB friends later and enjoyed his creative posts and occasional polks at the politicians and social issues. He was a good man, like Charlie Brown, in his words and deeds as has been conveyed by others. I did get a good laugh when I got my first email from Chuck and his address was "Unabonger". RIP Charlie aka Huck!!
